Therapeutic Massage can be an integral part of pain relief and recovery
We believe regular massage is beneficial for your health. If you are experiencing pain, therapeutic massage can be a powerful tool in relieving pain and aiding healing.
It can also be very beneficial in tandem with chiropractic adjustments and can often improve the efficacy of your adjustments.
There are many different types of massage. We have several Massage Therapists to service you offering many different types of massages. You can go to our About Us page for more information on massage therapies performed by each of our therapists. Some of the more popular massages are:
Ashiatsu: The original western barefoot bar massage technique using deep tissue/compression effleurage strokes that glide over the body. Movements are combined with centrifugal and centripetal directions. Specific strokes create a structural change in chronic soft tissue damage and provide deep relaxation. Bars are used above the head for support and balance. Lubricant is applied to the body. Developed by massage therapist, Ruthie Piper Hardee in 1995 as a result of her own scoliosis and disk pain associated with bending over the table to deliver deep tissue massage.
Ashi-thai: Ashi-Thai is an expression of traditional Thai massage techniques and exercises, where the therapist maneuvers your limbs into deep relaxing stretches. Compression of muscle tissue is applied throughout the session, helping to release spasm, muscle contraction and tension, always working within your perfect range of pressure.
Prenatal: With sideline positioning with supportive, soft cushions used to alleviate the extra strain on the lower back and pelvic areas, the massage therapist works the key areas that tend to get stressed during pregnancy. Backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and edema (swelling) can be relieved. Massage for pregnant women reduces stress on weight-bearing joints as well and encourages blood and lymph circulation. It also relaxes nervous tension and can help to relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes. This ultimately can lead to improved sleep patterns as a result of the serotonin, endorphins and dopamine released by your body in response to massage.
Swedish: This is a gentle form of massage that uses long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping to help relax and energize you.
Deep tissue: This technique uses slower, more-forceful strokes to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, commonly to help with muscle damage from injuries.
Relaxation: This is a gentle all-over massage designed to soothes nerves and relax muscles throughout the body.
Sports: This is similar to Swedish massage, but is geared toward people involved in sport activities to help prevent or treat injuries.
Trigger Point: This focuses on certain trigger point areas of the body where tight muscle fibers can form in your muscles after injuries or overuse.
